Can Homosexuals Be Saved?

I get asked this question a lot! And I think it is time I addressed in solid media.

I will deal with the title question, but I believe, based on conversations and communications I have had with others that the real question is “will a homosexual, once saved, continue in that sin?” We will also address this question.

————–

The first question is: Can homosexuals be saved?
The answer of course is yes.

The root of the question stems from a failure to understand the “finished cross work of Christ in his death, burial and resurrection”.

When the Lord Jesus Christ paid for sin at Calvary (this word is not found in modern corrupt versions) he paid for all sin for all men for all time. God is not charging the inhabitants of the planet earth with their sins.

Let’s look at a few verses that point this out.

2 Cor 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Definition: Reconciled = to come to terms, to make compatible with

THIS means that God, through the finished cross work of Christ in his death, burial and resurrection, has brought the Gentiles into a favorable condition with HIMSELF. The world can now “be saved”.

Definition: Imputing = is an accounting term which means to charge to ones account.

This means then, in verse 19, that God is NOT charging mankind today (in the age of grace) with their sins. Why? Because the sin question has been dealt with by Christ.

Notice: Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Definition: Justified = to be declared righteous by God

Definition: Redemption = to buy out of bondage

Definition: Propitiation = fully satisfying sacrifice

In the Old Testament the word “mercy seat” is the New Testament word “propitiation”.

Exo 25:16 And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee. 17 And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. 18 And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. 19 And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. 20 And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be. 21 And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. 22 And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

NOW notice some things here.

The two cherubims faced towards one another but looked down upon the mercy seat.

The mercy seat sat above the law of Moses, so that, it was as if the two cherubims were looking through the mercy seat to the law of Moses.

The mercy seat was where God would meet with them.

But also the mercy seat (seat of mercy) was where once a year the high priest would sprinkle the blood of the sacrifice and the sins of Israel would be covered for one year.

Lev 16:14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.

Lev 16:34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.

It was when the blood was applied to the mercy seat that God was “fully satisfied” (propitiated) BUT JUST FOR ONE YEAR!

Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Heb 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. 10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

God is now “fully propitiated” i.e. satisfied forever by the offering of his Son the Lord Jesus Christ!!

Religion may not be satisfied.
Tradition may not be satisfied.
Your doctrinal statement may not be satisfied.
The Roman Catholic Church may not be satisfied.
The Christ denying and rejecting cults may not be satisfied.
BUT GOD IS SATISFIED!
HIS JUSTICE IS SATISFIED!
HIS WORD IS SATISFIED!
AND BLESS GOD I AM SATISFIED!

WHEN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST DIED HE PAID FOR ALL SIN FOR ALL MEN FOR ALL TIME AND THAT INCLUDES HOMOSEXUALS AND LIARS!!

The only sin that will send you to the “lake of fire” today in the age of grace is the sin of unbelief!

Those who “receive not” and “believe not” will have their will exercised.

2 Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

2 Th 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

It is when you understand the full power of the finished cross work of Christ in his death, burial and resurrection that you will understand that anyone can be saved today even homosexuals and liars.

God has provided unlimited provision through Christ – but with limited application.

Rom 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

But now – in the dispensation of the grace of God

the righteousness of God without the law is manifested – without the law = by grace

being witnessed by the law and the prophets – the law and prophets are called as witness to the finished cross work of Christ in his death, burial and resurrection!!

Even the righteousness of God – The RIGHTEOUSNESS that God REQUIRES is the RIGHTEOUSNESS he SUPPLIES.

which is by faith of Jesus Christ – HE was faithful to do what he said he would do – you and I, by the way, are not!

unto all – unlimited provision of grace purchased by the Lord Jesus Christ

upon all them that believe – limited application of grace – you must believe it to receive it.

for there is no difference – because God hath concluded them all (Jew and Gentile) in unbelief

CONCLUSION

God will save a homosexual as quick as he will a liar and he will send a liar to the lake of fire as quickly as he will a homosexual. The issue is not sin or its amount or its kind the issue is BELIEF OF THE TRUTH. Can a homosexual be saved? Yes, just as easily as a liar, thief, good person, religious person, bad person, Admiral, President, or poor man. The ground is level at the foot of the cross.

  ————————

The next question is…

“Will a homosexual, once saved, continue in that sin?” – Let me ask this question another way so that we can put into perspective. “Will a liar, once saved, continue to lie?” or “Will a thief, once saved, continue to steal?”

The answer of course is they may or may not!

Again, my salvation (in the age of grace) is not based on my ability to change but on God’s ability to save.

The proper question to ask then is … “Should a homosexual, thief, liar, etc. , once saved, continue in sin?”

The answer of course is no! Or as the apostle Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, writing in the dispensation of the grace of God, says… GOD FORBID!

Justification does not give us license to sin but it does give us something we NEVER could do as a lost person… and that is to serve God!

  1. Thank you brother. I knew the answer to this question but it is good to hear someone else agreeing. I live in an area where the nearest grace church is miles away so when this question came up from a co-worker who is nazarene we had a heated debate about it. He believes that you have to stoo sinning altogether to keep salvation. I have proven to him several times that works wont save but I am doubting he even reads the Word of God KJV.
    God bless
